When Writing An APA Essay, What to Do With the Book Name?
When Writing An APA Essay, What to Do With the Book Name? When writing an APA essay, one thing that seems to confuse many students is what exactly to do in quotations. Many writers think that they should put the book title or author's name in the quotations, when in fact this is not required. Here are some examples of what to do in quotations when writing an APA essay.Your APA essay is called 'Introductions: How To Make Your Way In The World Of Academic Writing.' Do you see any quotations in the essay? - For me, there is one example where I am quoting another writer. I know the style and do not want to leave anything out, but in this particular case, I am quoting. I also do not want to give away the source so I use the author's name as a way to protect my identity. As a writer, it is very important to avoid giving away your identity in your published work. I often use the author's name because it keeps me from feeling like I am trying to sell myself too much or to be anonymous. Some wr iters like to use the name in the middle of their quotations, but this is not a good idea for your APA essay. The book name is the one source you should never give away. If you want to have more authors' names in your citations, that is fine, but I strongly recommend not doing it. Keep in mind that any author's information is usually in a book called 'The MLA Handbook' and it will not be revealed if you use the book's name.Do you have any other examples of this when writing an APA essay? - Sure. In one example, I used the book title and still did not include the book name in my quotations.I certainly didn't need to include the book, because if it was the original source I would include it. But since it wasn't, I thought it best to use the book name instead of revealing it.In some cases, you might want to include a book name in quotations! For example, if you have a list of sources, then you might consider including the name of the book, if you think it is the best book. Otherwise, if you use the book title, then you will want to put the book name into your references and only cite the book in its proper citation. That is all for now about when writing an APA essay, quotations and author's names. Just remember that the book name is not for you to put in your citations. But if you do need to put a book name in quotations, make sure you do so in your citations and not in your footnotes.
