IELTS Writing Task - The Benefits and Disadvantages
IELTS Writing Task - The Benefits and DisadvantagesIn the first part of this article I discussed how important IELTS writing task 2 is for your IELTS exam preparation. That was also a quick introduction into what IELTS writing task 2 is and how it has an impact on your IELTS study and test preparation. In this part I will explain some of the other benefits of writing an essay.Your essays will be used as your writing sample in your language exam. It is rare that you will be called upon to write an essay that is much longer than ten pages. If you do manage to write one that is longer than this it will not be used as a sample for your language exam, but it will be used for practice and the ability to improve your skills with any specific topic. This is the only time that you will be forced to make an honest attempt at completing an essay.Because IELTS writing task 2 is limited to ten pages, you will always be able to practice in the confines of your home or workplace. You will be given a random piece of paper to write on and will have no need to set aside any time to attend to your needs. The only time that you might be required to find time to practice is if you are given a topic that has to be tackled within the next two weeks. The time that you have available will normally be used to complete the other IELTS writing tasks, so there is no need to let your focus slip.As previously mentioned, your essay writing task is limited to ten pages. The good news is that the pace of your exam will not change during this time. As long as you can write the minimum number of words per day, you will do well enough. The final benefit of IELTS writing task isthat it will be used as a reference for you to improve your performance. Since your writing sample will only be ten pages, you will have to use it to help you decide which exercises to tackle next. The more thorough you are with your exercises, the more successful you will be. This is the main way that IELTS writing task will influence your study and test preparation. While IELTS writing task has some advantages and disadvantages, the main benefit is that it limits the number of things that you have to write. While you cannot expect to write an essay that is as long as full length books, you can still find ways to improve your writing skills. The only real downside to this benefit is that you may have to write several thousand words on every essay that you write. The only disadvantage of IELTS writing task is that it limits the amount of time that you have to complete a piece of writing. That being said, if you do manage to write an essay that is an impressive length, it will become a reference tool for your future practice and test preparation.
